"My work is all about curving planes and motion. The whole idea
is beauty for beauty’s sake — and the more random the better,
sort of like the aimless way a cat’s tail twitches, or the pleasure
of eating a ripe peach on a warm summer's day..." Earlier in life,
I did figurative stuff. But in the '80s, I started making these solid
abstract pieces from the trunks of
elm trees. Then I switched to bronze
and marble. Now I plan the forms
ahead of time in plaster. That way you
can add and subtract until you get it
just right. That's the fun part..."
